The weekly scheduling problem

The Schedule Should Not Start from Zero Every Week

Spreadsheets, paper, and group-chat screenshots make a familiar job feel harder than it needs to be. Simple Roster Plus keeps the weekly roster in one practical workflow.

Stop rebuilding the basics

Save the shift patterns your team already uses instead of retyping the same hours.

Keep time off in view

See approved vacation and days off while building the roster—not after it is shared.

Share one current roster

Publish a read-only link instead of sending another schedule screenshot that can go stale.

Build the weekly roster

Build the Weekly Schedule in One Clear View

Choose the week, scan the staff list, and assign a familiar shift to each editable day. The roster stays focused on the work a manager needs to finish.

  • Assign shifts to employees day by day.
  • Apply one shift across an employee's editable week.
  • See daily shift counts and scheduled-hour indicators.
  • Keep roster weeks tied to the right location.

Reuse what works

Reuse Shift Presets and Copy Last Week

Most shift teams use a familiar set of hours. Save them once, then spend your time adjusting the week—not rebuilding it.

  • Name each shift and set start and end times.
  • Record unpaid break time and choose a clear color.
  • Copy eligible shifts from the previous week.
  • Adjust the copied roster before publishing.

Schedule around approved time off

Keep Approved Time Off Visible While You Schedule

Approved vacation, days off, and sick leave block the affected roster cells. Closed holidays are kept off the schedule too, helping managers avoid preventable clashes before publishing.

Check the Week, Then Make It Official

Simple status cues help you spot unassigned days before publishing and decide whether the roster is ready to share.

Step 1

Build in draft

Keep the roster private while you assign shifts, copy last week, and make adjustments.

Step 2

Review unassigned days

See a warning when staff-days remain unassigned and choose whether to fill them first.

Step 3

Publish when ready

Publish one read-only version for the team, with the option to return it to draft later.

Publish and share

Publish and Share One Read-Only Roster

Give your team one published roster they can open without editing it. Managers choose how to pass the link along.

Scheduling connected to attendance

Compare the Plan with What Actually Happened

The weekly roster supplies the expected shift. Attendance can then show whether that employee is still scheduled, arrived on time, arrived late, or was absent. See how our employee attendance software connects the plan to actual clock-ins, or how clock events enter the system.

Employee scheduling questions

What Managers Ask Before They Start

Can I copy last week's employee schedule?

Yes. Copy the previous week's eligible shifts into the new week, then adjust what changed. Approved leave, closed holidays, and locked days are respected.

Can I create reusable shifts?

Yes. Save shift names, start and end times, unpaid breaks, and colors so familiar hours are quick to assign again.

Can I see leave while building the roster?

Yes. Approved vacation, days off, and sick leave remain visible and block those roster cells. Closed holidays can block assignments too. See employee leave and availability for leave types, approval, and soft shift preferences.

Can employees see their schedules?

Staff can open the published read-only full-roster link. Simple Roster Plus does not currently provide a personalized authenticated employee schedule portal.

Does it support multiple locations?

Roster weeks and staff can be tied to a location. The Free plan supports up to two locations; Plus and Pro support more. The product does not present every location in one combined scheduling view.

Does Simple Roster Plus track attendance too?

Yes. Scheduled shifts provide expected times for attendance, helping managers see scheduled, present, late, and absent status. Attendance supports the roster—it is not payroll automation.

Is Auto Scheduler available?

Auto Scheduler is coming soon. Today, managers can copy the previous week and adjust the roster manually.
